We take care of items that need to be repaired or replaced in an efficient manner! These tasks range from fence repair, replacing appliances like ceiling fans and toilets, as well as minor wall repairs and yard work.
When you submit your request, a Brigade volunteer Project Leader and another volunteer will schedule a time to visit with you at your home two weeks before your service day. At that time, they will be able to determine what Men’s Brigade can assist you with. Unfortunately, we cannot provide services that require licensed trade workers like large scale infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, moving, or HVAC work, but we would be glad to redirect you to your campus Care team!
On the day scheduled for your requests, a team of volunteers will be available at your home from 8 AM to 12 PM.
Men’s Brigade seeks to support widows/widowers, single mothers and the elderly in our church family. If you feel like you fit in these categories then we encourage you to submit a request!
Yes, you can submit as many requests as you need. Once the Project Leader and volunteer visit your home, a plan will be determined to create a time frame around when each project can be finished. Because we are a volunteer force, this time frame is made depending on how many available volunteers we have as well as how many requests we have received.
We would be more than happy to help repair or replace standard items regarding basic maintenance to the property. However, repairs outside of basic property maintenance will require campus leadership approval.
When your project is assigned to a Brigade volunteer Project Leader, he and another volunteer will schedule a time to visit your home. During that time, the Project Leader will review the task list and determine what Men’s Brigade volunteers will be able to complete and items that need to be referred to a certified/licensed trade. Any material expenses beyond those typically planned while require campus leadership approval.
Men’s Brigade works on the second Saturday of every month. If your need is pressing then we will do what we can to be available on the next service Saturday. For emergency situations and repairs, please call your campus Care team.
Depending on the number of requests we receive, we are usually able to visit one time per year; however, we may be able to assist another time if we have the availability!
Men’s Brigade will always have at least 2 men together anytime we visit or serve our clients. We always strive to be above reproach.
Yes. Gateway completes a background check on the volunteers that serve in Men’s Brigade.
A number of Brigade leaders and volunteers are contractors and generally supervise or scout your needed repairs in advance. They know what to look for and those projects or repairs that are out of our Scope of Work. These items are discussed with you prior to scheduling your projects.
Each member of our team is an entrusted, God-loving volunteer who is willing to help you in your time of need. Each person has had a background check prior to joining the team, and all have had years of handyman experience, as well as being former or current contractors. If a project seems out of our scope, we would be more than willing to help you find the resources necessary for that project.
You or an entrusted adult with detailed knowledge of the project must be present at the home while our team is helping you.
There is no charge for our labor; we are a volunteer service that is here to help you with your needs! You are welcome to pay or have purchased materials for your project(s), however it is okay if you are not able to pay for the materials. While more details may be discussed in our initial visit prior to your service day, we will do whatever we can to get you in the right direction!
